Search the web
This search page represents a simple demonstration of how a web application can
utilise “Web Services”, in this case The Google API, to extend the functionality
of the site.
A “Web Service” is defined as a programmatic interface that allows application
to application communication. In this example the text that is entered into the
search box is submitted by this website to Google and Google returns the
results. This could allow you to completely customise the look and
functionality of your own search page.
Other examples of Web Services include, spell checkers, credit card
authorisation services, post code look ups, mapping services and numerous other
services that allow your site to directly communicate with and utilise
applications on other web servers
Dot Net Webs can write custom code for your site that can utilise Web Services
of your choice (Please be aware that some Web Services are subject to
subscription fees).
